I Am, Who I Am

We ask,”God, who are you?” And, He answers, “I Am Who Am.”

When God chose to reveal Himself, he walked on earth through the human body. The hands that touched the leper were probably just like yours and mine.  Possibly dirty and broken fingernails, hand rough, but gentle. The feet of which the woman wept were calloused and bruised. And his tears came from a heart that was broken into a thousand little pieces of human pain.

When we think of what fun God must have had creating the universe, we have to smile. Only God could have the creativity to stretch the neck of the giraffe, expand the trunk of an elephant, and put the flutter in the hummingbird’s wings. Only God could create the rose as a constant reminder that even though our life is filled with thorns, there is beauty at the end of each piercing pain we might have.

He must have had a blast putting the gold in the sunset and hanging out the sun, moon, and stars in the sky. The rain and wind was the answer to the whole garden. He planned it for water to make things grow and the wind to stir it around and deposit it evenly over face of the earth. The oceans were His delight. He must have had a glorious time sailing on the waves with His hair blowing in the wind…
Oh, the majesty of the mountains. While standing on a mountaintop did He pat Himself on the back as He looked around at the world He had created? We know He was pleased with His work because it was good. Genesis 1:31—And God saw everything that He had made, and behold, it was good.

What a good time He must have had in His workshop. I can just imagine Him whistling as He created.
Did he laugh long and hard while he painted the stripes on the zebra? Did He whisper, “Aaah,” when He finished sowing a field of flowers and glimpsed for the first time the tall oak tree….
Then; He made man! With His typical flair for creativity, He took a useless mound of dirt and molded it into a vessel. He breathed his own breath into that vessel and gave it the name, “Human.”
Along with the name human came the unique honor to bear the stamp, “In His Own Image.”

God’s work was not finished when He created the universe. It was only beginning. It takes every day, every hour, and every minute of the day, twenty-four- seven to keep it going. There are children to be hugged and put to bed. There are orphans out on the street needing protection, and a home. Stressed-out men and women need hope and encouragement. The lost and wayward teenager needs to find their way home. The earth He must tend, so He sends the rain and the sunshine to keep His children fed. He does all this and much, much more and never breaks a sweat. So, when you ask yourself, “Who is God?” Listen, because God always answers, “I am Who Am.”That is the way I see it.

Best Wishes for a great day!
