Quiet Things

Autumn is a time of quiet things and there is such loveliness in distant sounds. I find so many of the lovely things in life are quiet; the red glowing embers of a warm fire on the hearth on a cool autumn evening, a sunset I discovered in all its glory as I raise my eyes toward the sky at the close of the day; dew sparkling at dawn, restful and refreshing. Early morning sunrise awakening the day reminding us yesterday has only become a memory; a rosebud tenderly and slowly opening its pedals; a weeping willow tree offering a shade beneath its graceful boughs as they swing back and forth like opening arms asking for a silent hug.

Yet none of these things is lovelier than an understanding look, a gentle smile of a friend from across the room; a handclasp without words,  or a prayer whispered silently to the Father, "In quietness and confidence shall be thy strength."

I hope you take the time today to remind yourself, there is beauty in quiet things....
