Reach a Friend Through the Thorns

I believe those who deserve love the least sometimes are the ones who need it the most. I know it is hard to love someone who treats others unkindly; but I have found out by experiences those who are unkind are often seeking for acceptance in their life. They are lonely! We do not often realize just how much a person needs a friend. Even though they have committed a grave injustice to you or someone else, they are still human. It does not mean we condone what they do, but neither should we condemn them. I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, and pray for them that despitefully use you, and persecute you…Matthew 5:44.

Wow! That is a very powerful verse, isn’t it? There have been times someone has truly broken my heart and I will have to be honest with you and say it was hard to forgive that person…But I read something one time that has stuck with me: “Within every soul there is a rose.” At birth, God plants good qualities into each of us. However, we often replace them with hate and discontent. Some people do not see the rose within themselves. They do not realize their potential.
One of the greatest gifts a person can have is to be able to reach past the thorns and touch the bloom of a human spirit. To do this is to know love; it is being able to look at a person and knowing his/her faults and still sees the evidence of a rose in bloom. Our duty in this world is to love one another warts, and all.
Once upon a time, a lady planted a rose bush in her flower garden. When she tried to care for it, its thorns pricked her. “How can a flower so hurtful become anything of beauty?” she asked. So, she stopped caring for the bush. Soon it withered and died before it was able to show what it could have been.
The same thing can happen to people we meet. If we show them a little care, we may be able to reach past the thorns and touch a beautiful blossom. That is the way I see it!

                          Be A Friend
It only takes a moment to reach out and be a friend
For the one who really needs you---the memory will never end
A simple act of kindness to a person you don’t know
Is to plant a seed of friendship and tenderly watch it grow.

It is easy to lose perspective of a difference you can make,
When you care more about giving and less of what you take.
So remember that your actions may help change a life someday
And put their heart to thinking of a new and better way….

Have a great day in the Lord!
