Walk On and Not Faint...

Even the youth shall faint and be weary, and the young men shall utterly fall. *But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings of eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint….Isaiah 40: 30-31
I love those two verses in God’s word. Do you catch the meaning? I believe the meaning is that His ever-available grace is there for us at all times and through all circumstances, and it is through His ever-present spirit that we must keep pressing on. We must keep serving Him, keep functioning, keep learning, keep growing, keep giving, and keep trusting in His perfect timing. If we do these things, He will give us the strength and courage we need to get us through our hard times.

Recently,I read a short devotional written by Amy Carmichael, a missionary lady from India many years ago. Amy wrote, “Father, I am not soaring today. Help me, please.” And she said that God
not only heard her, He answered her as well. His response was, “Daughter, soaring is not always flying high, just high enough off the ground to keep you from touching the thorns and crashing into the rocks.”

That is how God is with us. We may not think He is hearing our plea or giving us enough strength, but He says, “Wait on me child, and I will give you the strength and the power to soar like the eagles.”
We have all seen the eagle fly. Such grace… and they make it look so easy you almost want to start flapping your arms and try to lift yourself upward.

Just as Paul pressed on so should we. The finished product is that we won the race. We met our goal and all of Heaven is waiting for our arrival.

I have retired from my job but I am never going to retire from working for Jesus. We are called to live for Christ every day, every moment and not sit down when we reach a certain magical age. Once we become a Child of God, He hands us a work schedule all penciled in with orders we can follow all neatly written out in the main manual, our Bible. He didn’t promise us to always be working in the rose garden either. However, the neat thing about it all is that struggles cultivate in us a bigger desire for Heaven. We will never be completely happy here on earth. We will have our moments of happiness and times of peace, but true delight lies ahead. It is when we mount up with wings of eagles that we have truly won the race. We must walk on and not faint.... That is the way I see it!

Have a blessed day in the Lord;
Mary Frances King
